WE HAVE A RETIRED HOBOKEN PUBLIC OFFICIAL
THAT IS ENGAGING IN PROVEN ILLEGAL ACTIVITIES!
Did you know that Hoboken's Now Retired Tax Collector, who lives at
920 Castle Point Terrace is currently engaging in illegal activities
that are COSTING YOU A FORTUNE? Louis Picardo is a reason why our
great City is facing an economic DISASTER. Below are a few of the
scams he is trying to pull over on us:
1) ILLEGAL APARTMENTS* - He has TWO ILLEGAL APARTMENTS!!
a. HE DOES NOT FILL OUT A RENTAL HISTORY form that you mail in each
year (if you have rentals)? He claims that the law doesn't require it
and that we do it voluntarily. He recently had his assessment changed
to include the two illegal apartments with no repercussions for the
illegal apartments!! For years and years he had FIVE UNITS YET WAS
ONLY ASSESSED FOR THREE.
2) ILLEGAL ADDITION*
a. As I'm sure you know, he has built an ENTIRE LEVEL on top of his
house without any of the required variances or other legal filings
that WE would have to do! He has been issued a stop-work order by the
City, yet continues to build! TELL THE ZONING BOARD TO MAKE HIM TEAR
IT DOWN!
3) ILLEGAL PROPERTY TAX ASSESSMENT*
a. Look around at our lovely street. Did you know that up until this
year (when we contacted State Officals!!) Mr. Picardo's PROPERTY TAX
ASSESSMENT ON HIS HOME (Building) WAS THE LOWEST OF ANY PROPERTY
OWNERS (aside from Stevens) and THE SECOND LOWEST OVERALL? That's
right - some of the smallest houses on the block PAID A LOT MORE THAN
HE DID!! Did you know that when he did all the work in his basement
(added an apartment and a garage, etc.) his ASSSESMENT BARELY WENT UP
AT ALL? His total assessment was $430,000. Take a look at his house,
#920, and you decide if he hasn't been manipulating the system! (After
letting many people know about his illegal activity, his assessment is
now $502,200. (2009))
4) AS TAX COLLECTOR HE REFUSED TO FILE REQUIRED DISCLOSURE FORMS THAT
WOULD LIKELY SHOW CONFLICTS OF INTEREST WITH THE CITY.*
a. Did you know that the City requires public officials to file a
disclosure form to warn of any conflicts of interest with the city? It
does. Did you know that Mr. Picardo refused to fill it out while he
was Tax Collector?
It is important that you let people know! They must end this now!
PLEASE CONTACT AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN – we need to send a clear
message that these illegal actions will no longer take place. After
the tax increase we have had to pay to fund these ILLEGAL ACTIONS –
the people that are the cause need to LEARN: The LAW APPLIES TO THEM
TOO! So please, call the media, call your friends, the City, the
County and the State, even the Federal Government. Just MAKE YOUR
VOICE HEARD and tell as many people as you can about all the
ILLEGALITIES MR. PICARDO IS INVOLVED IN. People who defend Mr.
Picardo's ILLEGAL ACTIONS must have each step they take LOOKED AT VERY
WELL!
