The following list of demands where presented:

1) Each member of the city council identify $10,000,000 in immediate budget cuts.
2) Renegotiation, by a third party with no conflict of interest, of fair and reasonable union contracts with taxpayer interests in mind.
3) Use of smart PILOTs to benefit the taxpayers of Hoboken, not as political giveaways to developers. A guarantee of affordable housing and controls to ensure the benefit goes to families that need it must be conditions of renewal of the Church Towers PILOT.
4) Fairness in property taxation: initiation of a property tax revaluation while protecting homes of seniors and the disabled through the state Senior Freeze program.

OTHER NEWS: No Significant Reduction In Tax Bills Until At Least Next Year
In front of the city council on July 1st, the state's fiscal monitor Judy Tripodi stated 3rd and 4th Quarter Tax Bills will essentially be the same as the most recent quarters due to a statute which limits reductions or increases to 5%. She expects the tax bills to be "trued up" in the 1st and 2nd quarter of next calendar year. For personal budgeting, expect your next tax bill to be just as high as it was in Q1 and Q2 of this year!

Our membership needs to remain vigilant and actively involved to assure we get the tax relief we deserve!

Check out these upcoming issues:

- A new budget was introduced on Dec 2nd and is in the process of being analyzed
- Taxes are still 47% higher than they were last fiscal year!
- A host of new directors and board members will be appointed. We need to make sure they reflect our priorities!
- The school board and county represent the majority of our property taxes and we want these organizations to spend our money wisely.
